Lesson One: Construction of the Head - Rodents

I actually like how most of these look, and I think the confidence I feel is starting to come through in the drawings. For the most part (except the first one), I think they match Preston Blair's drawings pretty well, but you can always see some differences.

Looks like you got some good progress going on from post to post. Glad you tried out the 3-D thing with the head. Saw that many who are taking this course skipped that part. It's a real test of what you need to improve. My 3-D post was sucky. Hopefully I've improved since then. A thing I saw in your stuff is that you add sharp angles to some of the figure details (like the elephant trunk). I have that problem too. They have to be smooth curves. I'll keep visiting.

Thanks, David. I appreciate your feedback. Yes, I've noticed that I have a hard time with curves sometimes. I think that's something that will get easier as time goes on.

Hey - I just found this entry in a google search for Preston Blair. I started the John K "school" last week and I'm impressed with your progress. Actually, I was debating skipping the "draw the head from every angle" bit, but now i GOTTA do it!

According to John, I'm also a little too old to learn new tricks (27) but I refuse to cease.
wish me luck!
